Hey all… so, the site and forums got wiped in a major Mercury in retrograde moment, so any questions you’ve asked have disappeared. I’m hoping Network Solutions can find a backup, but am not hopeful. In any case, if you do have any questions, feel free to join the forum once again and post away!

Dear Astrolo-G,

I am a Taurus who was born on May 9, 1958 at 4:50 AM in Stockton, California. I have never known true love and have been depressed for many years. I’ve wanted to leave my marriage to a Capricorn for years now, however, I am unable to support myself. Everything changed once we got married. I admit that I have been cheating and seeing an Aquarius, but I know that it won’t work either. I am falling deeper and deeper into depression and am losing hope on finding true love. Where is he? What is a good sign for me? Where will I find him? I need real love and cannot live this way any longer. What should I do? I am at a total loss. Please take the time to help me with some sound advice. Thanks so much.

- A Tortured Taurus

Dear Tortured,

Wow. Where to begin with you? Let’s ignore astrology for a minute. If I was in an unhappy marriage, having to keep the secret of an affair from being revealed, and was unable to support myself, I’d be depressed too. So, I’d say the key to your depression really has nothing to do with astrology. It has to do with your situation and the choices you’ve made to get yourself into such a bind.

My first piece of advice is to get out of your marriage. You’re not doing your husband any favors by being unfaithful to him and if the only reason you’re staying with him is to be supported, I have to ask why? Why can’t you work?

It sounds to me like you’re not happy with yourself and in at attempt to find happiness in other people, you are finding it elusive. Of course it is. It’s impossible to be happy in a relationship or with somebody when you can’t be happy alone. It sounds to me like you don’t find anything fulfilling.

So, let me back up and get to the astrology of the moment. Before getting out of your marriage, first find a way of supporting yourself. Saturn is transiting your 6th house. It’s the perfect opportunity to get your mind clear through working hard at something.  Do SOMETHING. You have a good year to get yourself grounded in the workplace.  I think if you can figure out how to earn some sort of income, your whole mood and mentality will change. Towards the end of next year, there are big changes in store with your marriage. Although the changes will be challenging for you, they are direly necessary for your own growth. I think you’re ready for a wake up call and I know it’s coming.

The good news is that you have the possibility of finding TRUE love in the next year. But, my advice to you is that you first find it in yourself. It’s impossible to attract someone who truly loves you if you don’t already love yourself completely. That’s one of the bigger issues in your chart. Just consider yourself a late bloomer, forgive yourself for your mistakes and move forward. You WILL be okay.

So, your Macbook won’t burn DVD+R DL (dual layer DVDs) any more? Here is the solution!

Mercury in retrograde has been striking again, and this is for all of my fellow techies who have been having problems with their Macbook’s being unable to burn dual layer DVDs (DVD+R DL to be exact).

Up until recently, I haven’t had a problem burning dual layers, but it has seemed that since I have upgraded to Snow Leopard, my computer would suddenly boot out the DVD+R DL in the middle of a burn and say there was a write error. I’ve searched all over online to find a solution to no avail… until today. Turns out it doesn’t really have anything to do with Snow Leopard. Snow Leopard and the media fails were just a coincidence!

People were suggesting it was a media problem. I tried both Ritek and Memorex. No luck. So, that couldn’t be the problem. I tried changing the firmware (BP10 to A12 and back again). No luck. Finally, I came upon a site that said all I had to do was clean the DVD lens internally. But, could it really be that simple?

The answer? YES.

So, go on out to you local Radio Shack… get something called the “DVD Laser Lens Cleaner.” Or, click here and get a similar one from Amazon. It’s a DVD that has 6 little brushes built into the track. When you run it in your computer, after 30 seconds, it will tell you the lens has been cleaned and sure enough, problem solved. (You may have to run it several times to make it work.) I have since burned two DVD+R DLs with no problem… actually cleaned the drive between both burns and TA DA!

Let me know how this works for you and for the site that I found online that spurred me to go buy this $10 solution… thank you!

With Mercury about to go out of retrograde, I’m happy to note that I have simply revisited a prior technical difficulty with my computer’s DVD drive and the problem is now solved! HOORAY! See… the glass is half full with mercury in retrograde once again!

So, just returned to tape another episode of “Tyra” today and had a great time. The episode had me, a numerologist, Glynis McCants, author of the new book “Love By The Numbers”, a face expert, Barbara Roberts, author of “How To Know Anyone At A Glance,” and a scientist, Andrew Trees, author of “Decoding Love” to answer audience questions on love and relationships using our expertise.

What was truly fascinating was how each method of examination, astrology, numerology, science and face reading, blended so seamlessly together in a complimentary way. Check out their books… they know their stuff! I’ll let you know when the episode airs. :)

Was just making some homemade banana applesauce ice cream (low cal and delicious) and my ice cream maker just broke down! Now, it’s a double whammy mercury in retrograde situation because I only took the ice cream maker out of storage (where it had been for years) right when Mercury went into retrograde and now, only a few short days later, its motor has died and it is down for the count!

MERCURY’S FINAL RETROGRADE FOR 2009!

Hey everybody! With the new year upon us, Mercury has gone into retrograde once again! It’ll last from December 26th, 2009 through January 15th, 2010. Astrologers will tell you that it’s something that happens once, about three times a year, for about three weeks at a time. (This year, it actually happened four times!)

During that time, communications are said to get screwy. In astrology, Mercury represents thought. The quickness of the mind. He’s the FTD guy delivering flowers. Which, BTW, have you sent your loved one some surprise flowers lately? 1-800-SEND-FTD.

They say that when Mercury goes retrograde, your flowers don’t get delivered on time. There’s a glitch in the system. People’s thought processes don’t align as they usually do and connections are missed, transportation breaks down and you’ll wish that you’d have already backed up your computer because if there’s ever a time for it to stop working, it’s when Mercury is in retrograde!

The horror.

On the other hand, there’s another side to Mercury being in retrograde. It’s a chance to revisit old conversations that haven’t reached their successful conclusion and a time to reconnect with old friends who have fallen away to the trappings of distance and time. It’s a time to revisit a dream you had once upon a star-filled sky to figure out if you would want to finally make it come true.

You’re advised not to sign contracts when Mercury is in retrograde because “it is said” that the written word is where miscommunications would tend to abound.

So, take it for what you will.

Life is a spectrum.

Which Mercury in retrograde will you experience? The glass half empty or the glass half full?

(So far, only a couple of days into it, I’m already experience the glass half empty… ;) Sent a Christmas gift via 2 day air from New York to North Dakota on the 22nd and it still hasn’t reached its destination! Looks like this MIR is going to be a long one!!!)

How about you? What’s your Mercury in retrograde experience?

Have a safe and Happy New Year!! Hooray for 2010!!

Dear Astrolo-G,

I am a Taurus who was born on May 19, 1984 at 6:00 PM in Hackensack, NJ. About 5 years ago, I met a man through a college roommate. We remained good friends until last year when we began dating. Because of his career aspirations, we recently ended things. He was born on November 3, 1983 in Huntington, NY, but I’m not sure of his birth time. Will we ever get romantically involved again?

-Opposite Signs Apart

Hey there OSA.  The first thing I see between the two of you is that you are opposite signs, Taurus and Scorpio. When it comes to opposite signs, there is the rule that the attraction can be very strong between opposite signs, but they can repel just as strongly. Astrologically speaking, I think you guys are a really good match. You seem to have a marked similarity in terms of your interests and your temperaments and a healthy sexual attraction to one another.  My main issue between the two of you is a conjunction of your Saturn with his Sun which means that you would have the tendency to want to reign him in and control him to a certain extent. You’d be more inclined to desire that things progress the traditional way relationship-wise, which in the grander scheme of things, he would be inclined to as well, however, any increased amount of coaxing or manipulation by you to lead him in that direction will only push him farther away and increase that repelling tendency that is common between opposite signs. I actually think it’s a good idea you allow him to pursue his career and put your relationship on the back burner for now.  He pays attention to those “little” things. He pays attention to more than you realize.

Slow and steady will win the race between the two of you.  Can you guys come back together? That will depend on how you, in particular, choose to handle your time apart…

Let him know that he’s special to you because that’s important to him. But, don’t let him have all of the control in this relationship or he’ll believe he has you figured out which is a no-no. If he’s the one that initiated the time apart, then make sure you are clear about that and move on for yourself. Maintain an air of mystery. You’re good at doing that, and it will make you more attractive in the long run.

Keep me posted.

Dear Astrolo-G,

I was born in Marrero, Louisiana on May 29, 1984 at 11:15 AM. I met somebody (born in Kansas City, Missouri on July 25, 1983 at 11:50 PM) and we both feel as if we are soul mates. There’s a unique thing between us and my curious mind just wants to know if it could be true. I have read the perfect match section of your web site, but I really want to hear from the expert. Could he be my soul mate by any chance?

-Met My Mate In Marrero?

Dear Met My Mate,

I guess your question really comes down to the question of whether or not soul mates exist, and that question starts begging the question of whether or not past lives exist. Are there people we are meant to encounter in this lifetime and with whom we share a special love connection that is preordained? And, just because you have a soul mate, does that mean that in this lifetime, your love is meant to last forever?

I have my own views on those types of questions. My primary belief is that yes, soul mates do exist, but the idea of having only one soul mate in a lifetime is pretty crazy.  I believe that soul mates are people that we are meant to encounter in this lifetime and with whom we share a special bond that helps us evolve further than we would have without that person around. So, they could be a lover, a friend or a family member, and I’d still consider them a soul mate of sorts.  In the grand scheme of things, having had an experience with that person (whether positive or negative) you are left better equipped to handle the trials and trevails of love, life and everything else that the future holds.

All of that being said, however, there are astrologers like Jan Spiller, author of Cosmic Love, who believe that contacts between planets in one person’s birth chart and the north and south moon nodes of another person’s birth chart indicate contracts that we have drawn up with specific individuals (i.e. soul mates) in past lives that we have the chance of correcting (a la “Quantum Leap”) in this lifetime.

Looking at the chart of you and the chart of your man, he has his South Node conjunct your Neptune and you have your South Node conjunct his Jupiter and Uranus. Jan would say that it is destiny that has brought you two together in this lifetime, however, she would caution that you have major lessons to learn in this lifetime because of where you might have gone wrong in a past life.

There is a tendency between the two of you to become too codependent on each other and to lose your individual identity in the relationship. It would be more of a problem for your man as he would be apt to please you in spite of himself. You must be careful not to invalidate his feelings simply because yours might be different. You could also end up being too restraining for him. He, on the other hand, might not validate all of your beliefs when it comes to spirituality. So, there’s definitely a push and pull between you. You just have to make sure that there’s also always a give and take.

What it really boils down to is that the reality of your relationship is like any relationship. Growing together through time is what will be the test for whether or not you can truly make one another happy.  How do things seem now? Are you enjoying each others’ company? Can you see a realistic future together? I’d stop worrying about 50 years from now and pay more attention to today, tomorrow and next week.

Are you soul mates? Sure.

Will it last forever?

You tell me.
